Stramin
Stramin is a coarse finished fabric made of cotton or linen . The mesh-like fabric is used for embroidery or as a basis for knotting . Straming fabrics are available in different thicknesses from fine and light to coarse and heavy.
There are different types of stramines, which are offered in different stitch sizes:
- white canvas, used for cross stitch and tapestry embroidery
- Dreherstramin, white single-thread canvas for tapestry and satin stitch embroidery
- Sudan canvas, coarse canvas for cross stitches with wool
- Smyrnastramin, canvas for knotting carpets or for embroidery
Stramines can be provided with patterns to facilitate embroidery or knotting, and they can also be printed with colored rectangles for better counting.
