Courrières is a French municipality with 10,512 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France near the town of Lens . Here the canal Canal de Lens branches off from the canalised Deûle .

The twin town of Courrières is Weißenthurm , a small town on the Rhine near Koblenz. The Courrières mining disaster in 1906 claimed 1,099 lives.
