The Arrondissement Lens is an administrative unit of the French department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . The administrative seat ( sub-prefecture ) is Lens .
With effect from January 1, 2007, the cantons of Avion and Rouvroy moved from the Arrondissement of Arras to the Arrondissement of Lens as part of an administrative reform.

Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017
As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the arrondissement Arras became the area of the eight municipalities Ablain-Saint-Nazaire , Acheville , Bois-Bernard , Carency , Givenchy-en-Gohelle , Souchez , Villers-au-Bois and Vimy the Arrondissement Lens assigned.
Instead, the area of the municipality of Hersin-Coupigny changed from the Arrondissement Lens to the Arrondissement Béthune .
