geography

The canalised Deûle , here part of the large shipping route Dunkirk-Scheldt , runs on the southwestern edge of the municipality. Évin-Malmaison is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ostricourt in the north, Leforest in the east, Courcelles-lès-Lens in the south and south-west, Noyelles-Godault in the south-west and Dourges in the west.

Évin-Malmaison is located in the coal mining district in northern France .
