Souchez is a French commune in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France . Souchez belongs to the Arrondissement of Lens and the Canton of Bully-les-Mines (until 2015: Canton of Vimy ). The municipality has 2,496 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) who call themselves Souchézois .

geography

Souchez is located about seven kilometers southwest of Lens on the Deûle River , which arises here and into which the Souchez river of the same name flows. Souchez is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Angres in the north, Givenchy-en-Gohelle in the east, Neuville-Saint-Vaast in the south, Carency in the southwest, Ablain-Saint-Nazaire in the west and Aix-Noulette in the northwest.

The A26 autoroute and the former Route nationale 37 (today's D937) run through the municipality .
