strangulation

Strangulation (also strangulation and strangulation ; from lat. Strangulare "strangle") is the generic term for hanging , choking and strangling . In forensic medicine and forensics , the distinction is important, since in most cases hanging can be traced back to a suicide , while strangulation and strangulation are often caused by external influences.

Strangulation is also a method of execution and the like. a. with a choking gallows .
