STREIK.TV was an online TV show on union-related topics. The program was produced on behalf of the service union ver.di from 2008 to 2011 by PLATOON.cultural development in Berlin and discontinued on August 31, 2011. Since September 2011, ver.di has been producing video contributions under the name ver.di TV with the former Strik.TV team of journalists, cameramen and cutters.

reception

Streik.TV took up the format of a political magazine by referring to the individual contributions with introductions. In addition to current topics, the contributions dealt with historical events , background stories and portraits relating to trade union work and industrial disputes. The contributions were supplemented by a weekly review in which union activities (strikes, warning strikes, collective bargaining etc.) are briefly presented. The magazine took a clear stance in terms of trade union standpoints and saw itself as a mouthpiece for organized workers.

history

In the winter of 2007, the ver.di federal board decided to produce a TV program in order to ensure better coverage of the labor dispute in 2008. It was also intended to target young workers and people outside the trade unions. Professional television journalists who, among other things, had worked on the lifestyle magazine “ Polylux ” in the RBB were hired to implement Strik.TV .

Streik.TV started filming at the CDU federal party conference in Hanover in December 2007, when the journalists questioned CDU politicians on the subject of minimum wages. In January 2008, Streik.TV started its regular operations and produced a weekly program until August 2011.

Ver.di has had its own video production studio since September 2011 and has been producing union-relevant video contributions such as reports, portraits, backgrounds, surveys and explanatory films on the subject of work and union under the name ver.di TV with the professionals from Strik.TV. The contributions are displayed on verdi.de, the ver.di YouTube channel and the ver.di Facebook page.
