Polylux was a weekly magazine . It emerged from the local Berlin show Tip TV and was broadcast from April 1997 to December 19, 2008, initially on the ORB and since 2001 on the ARD's late-night program . The editorial responsibility within ARD lay with the ORB and then with the RBB . Polylux was moderated by Tita von Hardenberg and produced by her company Kobalt Produktions Film- und Fernseh GmbH . During her first pregnancy, Steffen Hallaschka took over the moderation, the second pregnancy break was bridged by Jörg Thadeusz , most recently she was represented by Katrin Bauerfeind .

concept

Polylux reported in its articles about zeitgeist phenomena , political life and the current main events, always maintaining a more or less satirical undertone. It was aimed at a target group of primarily a young and open-minded audience. The program was heavily criticized within the ARD and was about to end in 2004. Among other things, the creators were accused of a strong Berlin centrism and an exaggeration of marginal phenomena into general trends. Since then, the magazine has given itself the self-deprecating subtitle: " polylux - the last in the first ".

Categories within the program were u. a. Portrait , Berlin for beginners , pop culture , poly luxury and since the end of 2006 a fight club , in which a topic area was viewed from different angles in two contributions and the viewers were encouraged to join the discussion on the Internet after the broadcast. Until June 2007, Carsten van Ryssen collected opinions on a current topic on the street in the Satire section . Until then, every program ended with a current comment from Manfred Dumke, who represented an average early retiree in Berlin and who gave his opinions unadorned to the people.

Public reception

The show and its presenter were now and then the target of Harald Schmidt , whose show ran directly in front of Polylux on Thursdays.

On December 8, 2005, Trutz Hardo was presented as a weird esoteric in a satirical contribution. Tita von Hardenberg claimed that she did not know that Trutz Hardo et al. a. for alleging that the Jews were themselves to be blamed for the Holocaust on the basis of acts in previous lives, had been convicted of sedition. Helmut Lehner, head of the film and entertainment program department at RBB, apologized to the Jewish community for the broadcast.

On April 10, 2008, the Hedonist International succeeded in placing fake content in a contribution to the program. In the report, an alleged speed consumer was introduced who allegedly was on a drug diet. In a press release from the Tito von Hardenberg command, the reason was: “ Polylux was the target of the campaign, but it is representative of large parts of the media landscape, for which research is primarily a cost factor. Central areas of journalism are being outsourced to underpaid interns, who find it difficult to invest sufficient time and resources in their work due to precarious working conditions and the resulting pressure. "

attitude

On May 21, 2008, the RBB announced the discontinuation of the program as of December 31, 2008 and justified this with the financial situation due to a lack of fee income . The show's low audience rate played a role here. The word / figurative mark registered in February 1999 was canceled on November 3, 2008 at the request of the owner.

The last program was broadcast on December 19, 2008 with a best-of and a compact summary of the career. It was announced that the RBB's Polylux website would remain in place and be maintained.

Offshoot

In October 2006 the Monolux offshoot went on air for a few weeks in the RBB; it should “illuminate a typical phenomenon from different directions”.
