Trutz Hardo , actually Tom Hockemeyer (born April 23, 1939 in Eisenach ), is a German author in the fields of reincarnation and esotericism . In 1998 he was sentenced to a fine for incitement to hatred in unity with insult and the denigration of the memory of the deceased , and the dissemination of the criticized book was prohibited.

Life

Tom Hockemeyer was born the second of four children to the pharmacist Karl-Ernst Hockemeyer, who worked as a poet under the pseudonym Molar in the post-war period. At the age of five, he says he lost his mother in Thuringia in 1944. In 1945 the family moved from Thuringia to what was then the western zone , where the children were housed in various boarding schools and with families. Tom Hockemeyer attended the Inselgymnasium on Wangerooge and received his general university entrance qualification there in 1960 . In 1961 he began to study German and history to become a teacher in Berlin . In December 1966 he passed the first state examination in Berlin and the second in January 1975 .

He documented his world trips in four books. Since December 1974 he has been dealing with esotericism and spirituality . From 2001 he published mostly through the publisher Silberschnur.

Accusation of sedition

In 1996, Hockemeyer published the book Jedem das Seine in a four-volume series of novels , with the title (a motto of the SS ) referring to the inscription on the gate of the National Socialist Buchenwald concentration camp , meaning for the inmates of "Everyone what he deserves" . In the book he justifies the Holocaust by relativizing the crimes of National Socialism through the esoteric belief in rebirth. It was not Adolf Hitler who “gave the Jews the fate of the gas chamber”, but “they chose it for themselves”. The Führer was "only the executor of their will". Auschwitz and the Holocaust are the "predetermined fate of the Jews" and a "just atonement for crimes committed in a previous life": The murdered Jews chose their fate because they were mostly non-Jews in previous lives.

In 1998 Trutz Hardo was therefore sentenced to a fine by the Neuwied District Court for incitement to hatred in unity with insult and the denigration of the memory of the deceased . The book was banned that same year . On May 30, 2000, the judgment was upheld with minor changes in the second instance. Since then he has been described by critics as a right - wing extremist anti-Semite (e.g. by Jutta Ditfurth ). The author is still promoting the work on his website at the beginning of 2018, but with the note "prohibited in Germany due to the karma law relating to the Holocaust!"

On December 8, 2005, Hardo appeared in the RBB magazine Polylux . Helmut Lehner, head of the film and entertainment program department at RBB, apologized to the Jewish community for the broadcast. In May 2006 Hardo published an esoteric test as an "expert" in the newspaper Bild . After protests, the editors declared that they had not known about his conviction for sedition and announced that they would "never report again on this man" in the future.
