The Strelasund overhead line crossing is a 110 kV overhead line crossing of the Strelasund and is used to connect the power grid from Rügen to that on the mainland, with the endpoints of the two circuits on the mainland in the Stralsund -Lüdershagen substation and on the island of Rügen in the Bergen substation lying on Rügen . It is the only high-voltage connection between the mainland and Rügen.

history

In 1900 electrification reached Stralsund . Up until now there were local producers of direct current, now an intercity center for three-phase current has been set up here. In 1910, the provincial parliament for Pomerania was the first province in Prussia to pass electrification throughout the province. In 1911 the time had come, the overhead lines in Pomerania were put into operation.

From the overland control center - today the substation - in Stralsund-Lüdershagen, the line ran southeast towards Brandshagen and then went northeast to the Sund. The construction took place at the narrowest point of the Strelasund between Niederhof / Neuhof and the Prosnitzer Schanze .

The Strelasund overhead line crossing consists of two 85 meter high masts ( , ) that stand on caissons in the Strelasund. The span between the two masts is 440 meters.
