Welts
Striemel is a term for stripes found in northern Germany . Occasionally also as a Stremel , for example in relation to clothing.
In the phrase "pull through your stripes" ("I'll continue my stripes") Striemel means something like routine , the usual , sounding slightly derogatory.
The term supposedly comes from Strieme (stripe, wound), "The name goes back to ahd. Strimo› stripe ‹, mhd. Strieme, strime."
