stricture

In medicine, a stricture (Latin strictura "the contraction") is a severe constriction ( stenosis ) of the lumen of a hollow organ caused by inflammation or scarring of the organ wall or the surrounding tissue ( organic stricture ) or by spastic contractions of the Musculature surrounding the lumen ( functional stricture ) can be caused. Examples are the urethral stricture , the small intestine stricture or the esophageal stricture .
