Intertext - Foreign Language Service of the GDR
Interntext - Fremdsprachendienst the GDR was an operation of the SED , based in East Berlin , the tasks in the language mediation were incumbent. The foreign language service had branches in Berlin and 7 other districts .
The main task of Intertext was translation and interpreting from foreign languages into German and vice versa. For example, political and technical literature, scientific papers, newspaper and magazine articles and certificates were translated. In addition, authentications of translated documents, documents and the like were issued.
Requirements for written submissions
Translations could be created immediately in the original copy ready for copying ("fair copy") or in a typewritten print template (" manuscript "). The shape had to correspond to the technical quality and delivery conditions TGL of the GDR (equivalent to the federal German DIN standards). There were leaflets for freelance translators and sample cover sheets (Figs. 1–4).

Employee
Employed or freelance translators , interpreters , editors and experts work for Intertext . Freelance fee-based translators received a fee order (Fig. 5), and the work was billed after delivery and internal technical review in accordance with the "Order on the remuneration of language mediation services" - published in the GDR legal gazette (GBL) special edition 1031 of February 15, 1980 (Fig. 6 ).
