Stroboscopy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Stroboscopy or videostroboscopy used to assess the vocal cord function . The mobility of the vocal folds can be assessed using stroboscopy. With it it is possible to examine the fine motor skills , the regularity of the vibrations , their amplitude , the sequence of movements for symmetry during the opening and closing phases of the glottis . It is helpful for vocal cord infiltration (e.g. tumors (early detection) and inflammation ) and functional voice disorders . The triggering occurs through the phonation of the test person via a body or air conduction microphone or via an EGG signal. In the case of more pronounced voice disorders, the procedure often fails because the fundamental frequency analysis to trigger the stroboscope is not successful. Then laryngoscopy with high-speed cameras is superior.
