The thatched roof house Leimbach is a thatched former farmhouse and the last of its kind in the Aargau municipality of Leimbach . It's under homeland security .
location
The house is located in the upper Wynetal, a little away from the hamlet of Seeberg. It can be reached from the hamlet via a dirt road.
construction
The thatched roof houses, as can also be found here on the Seeberg, are the oldest form of houses in Aargau. It is built as a studded house with high studs that is thatched. The windows are equipped with slug panes. The smoke outlet above the stove, in which bacon and sausages were smoked in the past, is made of rods covered with clay. The year 1783 is carved on the beam above the gate to the Tenn, which should correspond to the year of construction of the house. The roof was last renewed in autumn 2011.
