Current funnels are molded parts made of steel or stainless steel for container and apparatus construction .

Current funnels connect semicircular profiles with round connection pipes. With the funnel shape , the entry and exit of half-pipes and half-pipe coils , such as those used for container heating, are designed to be particularly aerodynamic. A uniform temperature control is achieved and turbulence or so-called cold water pockets are avoided.

The design and dimensions of current funnels are standardized in DIN 28127, which, with regard to the manufacturing process, is based on molded parts that are contour-pressed from sheet metal and welded together .

Since 1996, seamless flow funnels (made of seamless steel and stainless steel tubes) have also been manufactured using a patented process. In terms of their dimensions, these essentially correspond to DIN 28127 and are presented in a separate company standard (WH standard 120).
