The Structure and Approval Directorate North ( SGD Nord ) in Koblenz is a higher state authority that is responsible for certain tasks in the north of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate (former administrative districts of Koblenz and Trier ) as well as for some tasks nationwide.

The SGD Nord was created - together with its sister authorities, the Structural and Approval Directorate South in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and the Supervision and Service Directorate in Trier - on January 1, 2000 as a result of a structural reform from the previous district governments in Koblenz , Trier and Rheinhessen. Palatinate as well as several independent specialist authorities.

The SGD Nord is located in the building of the former High Presidium of the Prussian Rhine Province . Ulrich Kleemann has been president of the authority since October 1, 2012.
