The Paderborn Student Union provides services for students at the University of Paderborn , the Hamm-Lippstadt University , the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia , Paderborn Department, the Paderborn Theological Faculty and the University of Applied Sciences for Business (FHDW).

Services

The Paderborn Student Union provides accommodation rental in student dormitories and residential complexes, university catering ( canteens , cafeteria, catering), student finance advice and implementation of the Federal Training Assistance Act, childcare for students and intercultural support. It ensures that the everyday practical needs of the students can also be met at the universities.

It rents around 1,500 residential spaces in five residential complexes in Paderborn and around 100 residential spaces each in Hamm and Lippstadt. More than 1.2 million meals are served in the canteens every year. Further dining facilities are added. As the office for educational support, it is responsible for around 27,000 students.

The Studierendenwerk Paderborn operates two day-care centers with the names MS-Kunigunde and Uni-Zwerge with a total of 150 childcare places for children from 4 months to school entry.

The Studierendenwerk Paderborn is an institution under public law ; It is therefore an independent, organizationally independent institution that provides services for the students of the supervised universities.

The self-governing body of the Studierendenwerk is the administrative board, to which students, lecturers and members of the university administration as well as people from the Studierendenwerk team belong as employee representatives; the managing director of the Studierendenwerk is accountable to the board of directors. The seat and administration are in Paderborn.

As an institution under public law, it receives - like all student unions and student unions - part of its financial needs from tax revenues, another part comes from a compulsory contribution ("social contribution") of the students. The Studierendenwerk generates the largest share of its income from income from the catering establishments or from rents itself. The Studierendenwerk employs a total of more than 250 people. Over half of them work - mostly part-time - in the catering establishments.

The Studierendenwerk Paderborn is a recognized training company in the professional fields of cooks, office management clerks and IT clerks. In addition, it offers retraining, company and annual internships as well as student internships as part of job search.

Tectum

The subsidiary Tectum GmbH, founded in 2000, offers the know-how acquired in the field of gastronomy and facility management in the private sector. The proceeds go to the Paderborn Student Union and thus support the social support of the students. Tectum operates the Boardinghouse Campus Lounge on campus with guest and conference facilities.

The Paderborn Student Union was established on March 1, 1974 by the law on student unions in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as a state company in the legal form of an institution under public law with the right to self-administration. It was responsible for the locations in Paderborn, Höxter, Meschede and Soest until 2000.
