Furthermore, skuba offers a wide variety of services for its members. These services include:

  • its own cultural venue

organization structure

Student council

The supreme body of skuba is the Student Council (SR). The student council is the legislature of the students at the University of Basel. The SR decides on the university and educational policy direction of the skuba and debates it. He also has budget sovereignty, checks the annual accounts and supports student initiatives and projects with financial contributions. The SR also elects the board and management of skuba.

The faculties are represented proportionally according to their student numbers.

The council presidency holds the presidency of the student council.

Board

The board of directors of skuba is the executive of the students at the University of Basel. He takes care of the daily business and represents skuba externally and internally. The board of directors is divided into various departments. These are:

  • Exterior department
  • Interior department
  • Teaching and Quality Assurance Department
  • Culture department
  • Social department

Defined duties are assigned to the departments and the board members deal with them independently.

The board of directors is led and represented by a presidium and a vice-presidency.

Commissions

Skuba organizes its activities in various commissions and ad hoc working groups:

  • Business Audit Committee
  • Finance Commission
  • VSS Affairs Commission
  • Commission for the promotion of young academics in higher education
  • Commission for public relations and student projects
  • Commission for statutes, regulations and positions

financing

The skuba is financed by means of the global budget of the University of Basel, from the collected contributions of the members as well as from other income.

Specialist groups

The basic organizations of skuba are their specialist groups. These are composed of the students of a subject. They are constituted according to subjects or courses and represent the specific interests of the students in the respective faculty assemblies and faculty or department-specific commissions. The specialist groups are financed by a share of the membership fees collected by the skuba and are distributed to each specialist group based on the registered students.
