Stucco keratosis

The stucco keratosis , from Italian stucco , is a special form of seborrheic keratosis . It is a multiple, flat, unpigmented, small speckled seborrheic keratosis that occurs preferentially in areas of the extremities exposed to light, such as the back of the hand, forearms, lower legs and back of the foot.

Synonyms are: stucco keratosis; Keratoelastoidosis Verrucosa; Stuccokeratosis; Verrucae dorsi manus et pedis

The first description comes from Paul Gerson Unna from 1894 (quoted from)

distribution

The incidence is estimated to be around 10% in the elderly. Elderly people (more likely men) with particularly dry skin are particularly affected.

root cause

Of the disease are at least partially mutations in PIK3CA - gene on chromosome 3 locus q26.32 based encoding 3-kinase to phosphatidylinositol.
