A crash pad is a mostly mushroom-shaped accessory for motorcycles that is screwed onto the motorcycle frame , the wheel axle of the telescopic fork and / or the rear swing arm . The crash pad, which is made of aluminum or plastic, is designed to ensure that vehicle parts are not damaged in the event of a fall or falling over. Crash pads are usually not installed at the factory.

Another type of protection are crash bars , but both do not require an operating permit (ABE).
