Stylianos Korres

Stylianos Korres ( Greek Στυλιανός Κορρές , * 1910 on Naxos , † October 1, 1989 ) was a Greek classical philologist .

Life

Korres studied at the University of Athens , where he also became professor of ancient Greek philology , as well as being the rector of the university and founder of the Society for Cycladic Studies (Εταιρία Κυκλαδικών Μελετών - Etairia Kykladikon Meleton). Under the Markezini government (1973) he was appointed Secretary of State for Education and Religious Affairs . In between 1976 and 1986 he was chairman of the Society for the Promotion of Education and Teaching (Φιλεκπαιδευτική Εταιρία - Society for the Promotion of Education and Learning). Since 1961 he has published the journal Epetēris Hetaireias Kykladikōn Meletōn (Annuaire de la Société d'Etudes de Cyclades) .

Korres was married and had children. He is the father of Georgios Korres (Γεώργιος Κορρές), who in turn is a professor.
