Substitution therapy
A substitution therapy replaced by external supply of substances which are available to the body normally by its own body power available, but due to weakness function or not, or not in sufficient quantities -versagen of the corresponding organ.
Examples of substitution therapies are:
- Insulin therapy for diabetes mellitus
- Levothyroxine -Gabe with hypothyroidism
- Enzyme replacement therapy for certain metabolic disorders
- Blood transfusion for anemia
- Volume replacement in case of dehydration
