Adolf von Heppe

Adolf Eduard Erich Ernst Franz Viktor von Heppe (born July 24, 1836 in Kassel , † July 30, 1899 in Arolsen ) was a Prussian civil servant and politician.

family

He came from a noble family in Hesse and was the son of the Hessian electoral government director Theodor von Heppe (1801-1856) and Cäcilie Gissot (1802-1888). His uncle was the historian and philologist Christoph von Rommel (1781-1859). Heppe married on May 13, 1866 in Marburg an der Lahn Wilhelmine Butterweck (born March 9, 1840 in Wetter (Hesse) , † September 18, 1930 in Kassel), the daughter of the businessman Gustav Butterweck and Maria Brennemann . This marriage comes from son Theodor von Heppe (1870-1954), Vice President of the Prussian Chamber of Accounts.

Life

During his studies in 1854 he became a member of the old Marburg fraternity Germania . On May 19, 1860, he began his civil service career as a Hessian government trainee in Kassel. Six years later (1866) he became district secretary in the district of Schmalkalden and was accepted into Prussian services. In 1869 he was promoted to government assessor in Marienwerder and was transferred to Königsberg on May 15, 1870 .

On August 19, 1872 he became district administrator of the Schleusingen district and a member of the provincial parliament of the province of Saxony and the provincial committee. On December 24th, 1879 he became royal Prussian Real Secret Upper Government Council , conductor of the 1st department and deputy chief of police in Berlin . In 1883 he was first Landdrost , then from 1885 regional president of the district of Aurich . On May 11, 1887, he came to Danzig in the same position . In October 1890, Karl Baumbach was elected Lord Mayor of Danzig. Adolf von Heppe publicly criticized his salary of 15,000 marks (his predecessor had received 12,000 marks) and, as chairman of the district assembly, demanded a new tender to find a cheaper mayor. This was heavily criticized in public and was probably the reason for his transfer to Trier.

From December 6, 1890 until his retirement from Prussian service in 1899, he was the district president of the Trier administrative district .

For the German Conservative Party (DkP), Heppe was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1879 to 1885 .
