Theodor Nicolovius

Theodor Balthasar Nicolovius (born May 18, 1768 in Koenigsberg i. Pr. , † October 11, 1831 in Koenigsberg i. Pr.) Was a Prussian official in Gdansk (1819-1825) in the province of West Prussia .

Life

Nicolovius' father was the councilor and senior secretary in the Prussian budget ministry Matthias Balthasar Nicolovius (1717–1778).

Dr. phil. Nicolovius was a member of the Royal German Society (Königsberg) and the Physical-Economic Society .

Furthermore, Nicolovius was director of the Gumbinn War and Domain Chamber from 1803 and vice-president of the government in Koenigsberg from 1810 and vice-president of the government in Gumbinnen from 1813 .

He became a Knight of the Red Eagle Order 3rd Class and received the Iron Cross 2nd Class (1813).

Nicolovius married Marianne Sophie Hamann (1779–1855), daughter of the Königsberg philosopher Johann Georg Hamann (1730–1788). His brother Georg Heinrich Ludwig Nicolovius was a Prussian ministerial official for church and school affairs.
