Subterfuge was an American hardcore band from Long Island , which is also assigned to the New York hardcore scene.

history

Subterfuge was founded in 1996 by Chris Mazella , John Moore and Rick Jiminez . With the release of their first two cassettes, they created a small fan base, but received little attention from the Long Island scene. In 1998 they recorded a demo tape that also made it to New York . They came to the local label Pride Recordz , which had just been founded, and a year later the first EP was released under the title Fight Back .

Since there were hardly any opportunities to perform in Long Island and only larger and better-known bands had the chance to play concerts, Subterfuge and Atom IQLess bought a house and founded The Cesspool , a small club in the basement .

In the summer of 2001, Our Own Terms , the band's next EP, was released. Ed Lee had joined the band and took over the guitar, so Mazella could concentrate on the vocals. Then they went on a US tour with The Backup Plan. In the fall, Jeremy Roman, a second guitarist, joined the band, but he was supposed to leave the band in November 2002. Meanwhile, a Subterfuge / The Backup Plan split was published.

In July 2003 Est. 1996 the band's first long player . However, the band had already decided to break up. At the last concerts Nobody Gets Out Alive was sold. The last record was also the toughest of the group.
