The Success Glacier (dt. About "success glacier") is a small glacier on the southwest slopes of Mount Rainier in the state of Washington . In 1983 it covered about 0.8 km² and contained about 14 million m³ of ice. The glacier is bounded in the northwest by the Success Cleaver (cleaver = "column") and in the east by the Kautz Cleaver. Beginning on a steep rock face at approximately 11,000 ft (3,353 m) altitude, the glacier flows south downhill. At about 9,000 ft (2,743 m) altitude, a small snowfield unites the glacier with the Pyramid Glacier in the southwest. Soon after this point, the glacier merges with the neighboring Kautz Glacier at about 8,600 ft (2,621 m) altitude. The combined glaciers flow at about 6,000 ft (1,829 m) altitude by the time they close. The meltwater from the glacier flows over the Nisqually River .
