Suchitoto is a municipality in El Salvador , which is in the department of Cuscatlan , 50 kilometers northeast of the capital San Salvador .
Culture
Suchitoto is also known as the cultural capital of El Salvador. Every weekend there is an art and food festival. The month of February is also dedicated to the local art scene. There are also many small galleries in Suchitoto.
tourism
Suchitoto is one of the most important centers of tourism in El Salvador. The Spanish colonial architecture and the old cobblestone streets attract many tourists to the place.
Reservoir
Suchitlán Lake, the largest dammed body of water in the country, is located in the immediate vicinity of the municipality. The 135 km² lake forms the water reservoir of the Hidroeléctrica Cerrón Grande hydroelectric power station .
