The Suissetraffic was an international trade fair for public transport and took place every two years in Bern . The organizer of Suissetraffic was Bernexpo AG.

Creation and concept

When suissetransport switched from the even to the odd years, there was a scheduling conflict between Bern and Friborg . The practically simultaneous staging of the two commercial vehicle trade fairs in Friborg and Bern in 2007 led to uncertainty in the market and to dissatisfaction among associations, visitors, exhibitors and the media. This situation was also unsatisfactory for the exhibition centers in Friborg and Bern and led to disagreements.

In 2009, Bern focused on public transport with the newly designed Suissetraffic trade fair and Friborg on road transport with its transport friborg trade fair. The latter fair has been taking place in Bern since 2011 under the name transportCH.

When it was first held in 2009, Suissetraffic counted 163 exhibitors and over 5,000 visitors on an area of 20,000 m². Suissetraffic was the only trade fair in Europe that presented the areas of rail, bus, cable car technology and tunnel construction from the perspective of public transport under one roof.
