Sulet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Suleti (also Msuleti of Laz : Su / Msu " Lein " and -eti "country / location" official: Dağdibi Köyü) is a village in the Turkish Black Sea region , in the province of Rize . Sulet belongs to the Pazar County . The distance to Rize is 47 km, to Pazar 10 km. The approx. 60 houses of the village are spread out, as the village extends on the slope of a mountain. The population is estimated at around 160.

history

It is believed that the families of Sandıkcı, Üstbaş, Şahingöz, who lived in Sulet, and the Üst family, who lived in the villages of Çitat and Xaçkun, had common ancestors. The Lasian surname of these families is still known today as K'ust'a. The ancestor of the Sandıkcı family was a certain Mehmet, who probably lived in Sulet in the mid-19th century. He had three sons named Süleyman, Ibrahim and Recep. After the surname reform , the surname Sandıkcı was given to the brothers.

The members of the Hatırnaz family are also known as Xalitoğlu. This suggests that the ancestor of the Hatırnaz family must have been a certain Xalit or Halit.

economy

The cultivation of black tea and various types of fruit, v. a. Kiwi , is typical of this region.

language

Although Sulet is a Lasian village, it is more likely the Turkish language spoken by its residents. One of the main reasons for this is that a large part of the population lives on the "market" outside of the summer season (meaning the city of Pazar), where Lasic is hardly spoken anyway.

Emigration to Germany

From 1964 the first guest workers in the village came to Germany . They settled in the Hessian cities of Neustadt (Hessen) , Stadtallendorf and Alsfeld . The adaptation to the German culture has the consequence that the Lasic language and culture is more and more forgotten. This is also one of the reasons why the Lasic language is endangered.
