Sumire Nakamura

Sumire Nakamura (born March 2, 2009 in Tokyo ) became the youngest Japanese professional Go player in the history of the sport when she made her debut on April 1, 2019 at the age of ten and was awarded the rank of first dan .

She competes for the Nihon Ki-in and broke the age record of Rina Fujisawa , who turned pro on April 1, 2010, at the age of eleven years and six months .

Sumire Nakamura was the first player that the Nihon Ki-in had selected as part of its new monitoring program for particularly talented players in order to compete with Go players from other countries and who have gained access to a professional career in this way .

Sumire Nakamura was born on March 2nd, 2009 in Tokyo and is the eldest daughter of Shinya Nakamura , a professional Go player who holds 9th Dan. Sumire started with this very old board game when she was only three years old and since she was seven she has successfully participated in various competitions, so that the Nihon Ki-in became aware of her. It was judged in advance by six different Go players, including Yuta Iyama and Cho U. She is currently attending a primary school in Osaka .
