history
The Waldhufendorf Dürrenuhlsdorf was probably founded in the 12th century. In 1493 the place was referred to as "Dorn Olbersdorff" and in 1547 as "Durn Vllsdorff". The place name probably goes back to a settler named Albert or Albrecht or Ulrich. "Dürr" means dry, barren, lean or thorny, since the place was on a dry plateau. Ecclesiastically Dürrenuhlsdorf belonged initially to Schlagwitz , later to Swabia . Regarding the manorial rule , Dürrenuhlsdorf belonged as an official village to the Schönburg rule of Waldenburg until the 19th century . After an administrative reform was carried out in the area of the Schönburg recession in 1878, Dürrenuhlsdorf came to the newly founded Saxon governorate of Glauchau in 1880 . From 1918 Dürrenuhlsdorf belonged to the Free State of Saxony.
On July 1, 1950, Franconia and Schlagwitz were incorporated. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Dürrenuhlsdorf came to the Glauchau district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ). On July 1, 1969, Swabia was incorporated into the municipality of Dürrenuhlsdorf.
The municipality of Dürrenuhlsdorf came to the Saxon district of Glauchau in 1990 , which was added to the district of Chemnitzer Land in 1994 and in 2008 to the district of Zwickau. With the incorporation of the community of Dürrenuhlsdorf into Waldenburg on January 1, 1999, the four districts of Dürrenuhlsdorf became districts of the city of Waldenburg.
