Summertime Dream
Summertime Dream is the twelfth album by Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot . It was released in 1976 by the US music label Reprise Records .
The album marked Gordon Lightfoot's commercial high point of a period of popularity that began with the song If You Could Read My Mind in 1970 . The album's success was mainly due to the ballad The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald , which deals with the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald on Gitche Gumee (Lake Superior) in November 1975. The song was at number 2 on the US Billboard charts for two weeks, his second biggest success after the Millionseller Sundown . The album reached number one on the Canadian RPM album charts and number 12 on the US Billboard charts. Allmusic awarded 4.5 out of 5 stars.
