Summilux
Summilux (from the Latin summa lux "highest light") is the name for particularly bright lenses from the Leica brand with an initial aperture of f / 1.4 to f / 1.7. Zoom lenses that achieve this light intensity for at least one focal length are called Vario-Summilux.
Summilux lenses are currently (February 2015) manufactured as interchangeable lenses for the Leica M and the Micro Four Thirds standard as well as permanently installed for the Leica X and various Leica and Lumix compact cameras . The offer includes:

The lenses marked DG and DC are manufactured by Panasonic under license. Other Summilux lenses were manufactured for the Leica R , among others .
Demarcation
Even more powerful Leica lenses with f / 1.2 or better are referred to as Noctilux , and slightly less powerful lenses with f / 2.0 as Summicron . Leica lenses with an open aperture f / 2.8 are called Elmarit .
