SunNet was a GSM - mobile network in North Korea . This was the first in the country.

Company history

The first plans for a cell phone network began in the late 1990s. The network was put into operation on a trial basis by the Thai company Loxley PLC (Loxley Pacific Company Limited) in 2002. In 2004 all cell phones were collected again. The network was shut down at the end of 2010 and the company closed in favor of Koryolink .

Number of participants

In 2004 there were around 20,000 existing contracts.

After it was initially only available in Rasŏn and Kŭmgangsan , it was also in operation in Pyongyang from 2003 .
