Sunday Sport is a British tabloid founded in 1986 and operated by Sunday Sport Ltd. is issued. The newspaper publishes absurd reports, such as reports that a London double-decker bus was found in the ice of Antarctica, or that a WWII bomber was discovered on the moon and mysteriously disappeared shortly afterwards. Defenders of the newspaper suspect that it was not meant seriously. Substantial parts of the content consist of soft core pornography and advertisements for sexual services.

history

Sunday Sport was originally published by David Sullivan . Advertising in the publication was managed by Sullivan's protégé Karren Brady , who later became executive director of Birmingham City Football Club and vice chairman of West Ham United FC . Sullivan sold the newspaper to Sport Newspapers , but was forced to make a support payment of 1.68 million British pounds in 2009. Nick Appleyard has been the editor since September 2007. He was preceded by Michael Gabbert and Paul Carter. At times, Sunday Sport was associated with the Daily Sport newspaper .

On April 1, 2011, the newspaper stopped publishing and filed for bankruptcy. Sunday Sport resumed operations on May 8th after being repurchased by David Sullivan for £ 50,000. Under Sullivan, the newspaper is published three times a week, on Wednesday as Midweek Sport , on Friday as Weekend Sport and on Sunday as Sunday Sport .

Sunday Sport is based on The Sun , especially the Page Three girl , but extends this section over a wider range. After the departure of editor-in-chief Tony Livesey in August 2006, the newspaper concentrated more on topics of the rainbow press . Promotional items are usually enclosed with the newspaper.

The newspaper's circulation is falling as the mix of pornography, humor, sports and pseudo-news is picked up by numerous other publications and Sunday Sport is perceived as out of date. The newspaper is therefore trying to position itself as a newspaper aimed at men. The newspaper's executive director, Andrew Fickling, commented, "We believe this is an opportunity to pull readers away from the Star and the Sun as these newspapers are too feminine."

The so-called models for the newspaper included Linsey Dawn McKenzie , Solange Hop, Cherry Dee , Zoe Parker, Josie Shaw and Dani Thompson .
