from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Super-Meier (originally Superlópez ) is the name of a comic figure created in 1973 by the Spanish cartoonist Juan López Fernández , known as Jan, who parodies Superman . The comic series of the same name has so far comprised 55 albums and 11 anthologies and has also appeared in Catalan as Super Llopis , in Danish as Superdan , in Norwegian as Superegon , in Swedish as Super Nilsson and in German as Super-Meier .

The publisher of the German edition was Condor Verlag , which published 12 albums (volume no. 01–12 (1980–1986)) as well as several anthologies. Furthermore, Volume No. 14 was translated into German (published by a fan project with the author's approval as a booklet and as a download).

Brief description of the figures

Mr. Meier alias Super-Meier
Born on the planet Krückton (he shot himself to earth with a rocket as a one year old), adopted and grew up with the Meier-Benz family. He lives in a small apartment on Heldengedenk-Strasse in Rüpelsheim. He also has a place of refuge in the eternal ice, the Villa Meier. By profession he is an office worker in the TROT advertising agency on the 20th floor. He is engaged to the secretary Monika Hosenspitz.
Miss Monika Hosenspitz
She is engaged to Meier and knows nothing of his secret identity as Super Meier. Monika Hosenspitz can get very quick-tempered when something goes against the grain. Big Boss secretary.
Hans-Detlev Müller
Müller is an office colleague and always intriguing competitor of Meier.
Big Boss / Chef ("El jefe")
The director of the TROT advertising agency.
The super group
Captain Hau-Ruck, The Thing, The Incredible Alice, Superdose, and The Magician make up the super group.
The super villain
No one has ever seen his face. He hatches out hidden plans to smash the super-group and usurp world power.
Professor Obscuro ("Escariano Avieso")
Obscuro is a brilliant, but mostly very absent-minded inventor. His ingenuity and criminal energy are incredible. He works with Al Kanone occasionally.
Al cannon ("Al Trapone")
He's a gang leader who can never have enough money. The chief of the gangsters in the area has his hand almost everywhere in the game.
Inspector Schnuffel ("Inspector Hólmez")
The policeman and snoop who always combined in the wrong direction has already achieved cult status with his logic. He is the father of Marion.
Marion Schnuffel ("Martha Hólmez")
Super-Meier's best friend has often helped him in tricky situations. Her hobby is the questionable collecting of sacks of money, which she personally bags during regular bank robberies. Your father is Commissioner Schuffel.

History of origin

“Super-Meier is a perfectly normal, ordinary superhero who has all the power, superpower and extra power that every ordinary Mr. Meier would like to have to get rid of his everyday frustration. He is like Mr. Müller, Schmidt or Kunze from the supermarket, the greengrocer, the hairdresser or from the office. Each of us is one of those super eggs. But beware! If we wish to fly quickly across the polluted sky over the city, we have to be aware that it is only our imagination that flies there, and not us ... "

Super-Meier / Super-Lopez is a Spanish comic that was originally born as a parody of Superman and other American superheroes, and it soon became more than that. With poisonous criticism of society and surreal humor, everyday situations were driven to the extreme. Super-Meier was invented in 1973, but the first edition of Ole! Series was released in 1979. Artist Juan Lopez Fernandez invented the character, but Francisco Perez Navarro wrote the scripts for the first three albums.

1973 Super-Meier / Super-Lopez was born. The Euredit editorial team commissioned Juan Lopez Fernandez, "Jan", to draw a parody of Superman. The character was already very similar to the later Super Meier, but the gags and stories were limited to a one-page black and white picture story.

In 1974 and 1975 Jan Super-Meier drew for the Bruguera editorial team, followed by scripts that other people wrote. These were independent and unimportant one-sided adventures.

In 1978 Jan ushered in a new Super Meier era that still exists today. Francisco Perez Navarro, "Effepe" wrote the scripts for a crazy parody of some kind of bumbling Superman. He is also an alien, from the planet Krückton (Chiton) . His real name is Jo-Con-El . In this first album by Super-Meier , a couple of friends are introduced, Hans-Detlev Müller (Jaime Gonzalez), Monika Hosenspitz (Luisa Lanas) and enemies like Der Galaktische Gladiator (El gladiador galactico), Der große Reflektor (Luz luminosa), who blinds his enemies with the light reflecting off his bald head, or Zyklon , a giant robot made of chewing gum.

The next two albums were parodies of superhero teams ( The Avengers , The Defenders , Fantastic Four etc.), Captain Hau Ruck , Das Whingsbums, The Incredible Alice, Superdose and The Magician are a parody of Captain America , The Thing , Wonder Woman , High-tech robots and Dr. Strange .

In 1980 there was a new chapter in the history of Super Meier . “Effepe” left the super team and Jan was now the only author who wrote the scripts. Album # 4, The Extraterrestrials , opened this new section in which his "S" got a different look to differentiate itself more from the Superman -S due to legal problems with DC Comics . It's a crazy, absurd story (crashed aliens are mistaken for electric stoves, 3,000 fugitive prisoners raid a bank, a steam spaceship ...)

The popularity of Super-Meier grew and in 1981 the comic Superheroes appeared in the Oye-Mira series published by Bruguera and Belter . The song SuperLopez , sung by the children's band Regaliz, opened the LP.

In 1985 a new comic magazine appeared, which only came out in three issues. Super-Meier's last adventure for Bruguera was published there, Volume 9, La Gran Superproduccion .

In 1987 Edicions took over the editorial department and the new album was called Volume 10, Al Centro de la Tierra , after the Jules Verne novel of the same name. From now on the comic magazine was published regularly again. The new adventures from Super-Meier have a better color, more continuity and the instructive goal of showing the world (Japan, Bulgaria, Mexico ...) and a humorous and critical eye for current issues (violence at football games and in sports in general, Internet, drugs, gambling addiction, war ...). In Volume 8, Pandora's Box , there was an educational background in an attempt to explain ancient mythologies.

In 2018, a film adaptation with Dani Rovira was released in cinemas in Spain and had over 1.5 million viewers.
