Great scooper
Super Scooper is the nickname for a range of amphibious fire-fighting aircraft built by Canadair and Bombardier . The three aircraft known as "Super Scoopers" are the Canadair CL-215 , the CL-215T and the Bombardier 415 turboprop.
The planes fly at high speed (approximately 100 miles per hour) directly over the surface of a lake or reservoir and draw abundant water. In just 12 seconds, the aircraft can pick up 1,600 gallons (about 6,000 liters) of water and then drop it onto a nearby fire. This receptivity avoids the need to return to a water station that may be far away. The pilot must be certified to operate a seaplane to ensure that the conditions are safe for scooping.
Although these aircraft are mainly used to fight forest fires in Canada , they are also leased to fire departments in the United States . They are also flown by several operators in countries around the world, such as Croatia, Greece, Spain or France.
