Superessive
The superessive case (of lat. Super "on" and eat "his", or "Case of the sure one") is a local cases , the u. a. occurs in Finno-Ugric languages . It describes the position on a reference object. For example, it is represented in Hungarian by the suffix - (e / o / ö) n :
- hajó- n "on the ship" ( hajó "ship")
- árk- on "on the ditch" ( árok "ditch")
- bokr- on "on the bush" ( bokor "bush")
Other languages with many local cases also have a superessive, such as many languages in the post-Dagestani language family. An example from Lesgic :
- xil- el "on the branch" ( xil "branch")
The counterpart to the superessive is the subessive ("case of being below ").
