Supernova (band)
Supernova is a Chilean pop group. It was founded by producers Cristián Heyne and Koko Stambuk , collectively known as " Packman ". The band consists of three female members. Her music is influenced by American teen pop in the late 1990s.
history
The group was formed twice, first in 1999 for the debut album Supernova . The second formation took place for the second album Retráctate 2002. This album achieved a nomination for a Latin Grammy . In 2007 the group reunited with the original cast for a live show of their hits from previous years.
First occupation
From 1999 to 2001 the group consisted of Constanza "Coni" Lewin (* 1982), Elisa Montes and Consuelo "Chi-K" Edwards. The CD issued under the BMG label topped the sales lists. The songs Maldito amor (Damned Love) and Tú y yo (You and I), which were described as icons of Chilean pop music, were particularly popular .
The CD Supernova was awarded two platinum records in 2000. It reached a circulation of 45,000 copies. This made Supernova the most successful pop group in Chile to date. In May 2000 Supernova appeared in Santiago de Chile in the opening act for the English group Five .
Second occupation
At the beginning of 2002 Coni Lewin suggested the re-establishment of the group. New band members were sought through Revista Miss 17 magazine . The decision fell on Claudia "Clau" González (* 1986), Constanza "Koni" Lüer (* 1985) and Sabina "Sabi" Odone (* 1984). In the same year the new CD Retráctate was released on the Sony Music label . The first song on the CD, Herida (Die Wunde), achieved wide coverage on the radio. The album was nominated for the Latin Grammy 2002 in the category "Best Pop Group". After a year and a half, the producers Stambuk and Heyne stopped working with the group.
Solo careers and reunions
In 2002 Coni Lewin produced a solo CD with her name as the title. Elisa Montes appeared in bars, discos and radio broadcasts, and participated in the children's television series "Tikitiklip".
All band members of the second line-up stayed in the music business. In 2008 Sabina Odone presented her solo album produced by Daniel Guerrero. Constanza Lüer was a member of the band Divina from 2005 . In 2011 she worked on the “Los iPop” project, in which music was played exclusively with iPads .
In 2005 the first line-up of the band appeared at the invitation of the television station "Rock and Pop". Two years later they performed together again. In 2009 they announced a DVD of their farewell concert. In 2011 they performed again together at the Amanda Cultural Center.
