5ive (later known as Five ) are a British boy band . They achieved great success, especially in Great Britain, Western Europe, Russia, Japan, Brazil, Israel and Australia. The band broke up on September 27, 2001 after having sold around 20 million CDs by that time. In total, the band had 11 top 10 singles in the UK and four top 10 albums. The band consisted of the five musicians Scott Robinson, Richard Neville, Jason 'J' Brown, Richard 'Abz' Breen and Sean Conlon. In 2006, Five announced they were going back to the studio, but without Sean Conlon. Seven months later (in May 2007) they withdrew their comeback with a statement on their homepage and announced the final separation. At the beginning of 2013 it came to the reunion through the documentary The Big Reunion broadcast by the British television station ITV2 .
history
Five were put together in 1997 through a casting organized by the team around the Spice Girls . After half a year of studio recordings, the first single Slam Dunk Da Funk was released in December 1997 . Further singles, all of which entered the top 5 of the single charts, followed. In June 1998 the debut album Five was released , which immediately entered the UK album charts at number 1. In 1999 the second album followed, which was called Invincible . The released 2nd single Keep On Movin ' became the band's first number one hit. In 2000 reached five with the Queen - Cover We Will Rock You again No. 1 on the charts.
After a break of over a year, Five released their third album Kingsize in 2001 . The first single, Let's Dance , became Five's third and final number one hit. On September 27, 2001, Five separated. The reasons given were overwork and too much stress. Closer To Me was released as the last single, followed by the Greatest Hits album at the end of 2001 . Exactly five years later, on September 27, 2006, Five announced their comeback at a press conference . But only four of them, Sean Conlon had left the band for good. On May 20, 2007, Five broke up for good without releasing a new song. However, you can listen to two of their new songs on a trial basis. On their homepage they gave "problems with a new record deal" as a reason, so they saw no other option than the final separation. In 2013 the band got together again for an ITV documentary (The Big Comeback) and performed live after the documentary. However, the band (including Sean Colon) have to do without Jason 'J' Brown, who canceled at the last minute and justified it by saying that he no longer wants to be part of the music industry. On August 28, 2014, Abz Breen announced on Twitter that he was not a member of the band.
