life and career

Breen was born in London's East End as the only son of Turan Sanveren of Turkish origin and his Irish friend Katherine McDaid Breen. His parents, who never married, agreed on an English first name, but added Abidin as the middle name to show his Turkish roots. When Breen was three years old, his parents separated and he grew up with his mother. Since 5ive Breen is only called Abs - a short form of his middle name - because there was another Richard in the band. After Five separated (temporarily) on September 27, 2001 after almost five years, Breen was the only one of the band who released an Abstract Theory solo album and landed three times in the top 10 of the British single charts . In 2004, however, his record company separated from him. On September 27, 2006 - exactly five years after the split - Breen and three of his colleagues (Ritchie, Scott & J) announced the reunion of 5ive. On May 20, 2007, Five finally broke up without having released a new song.
