Surcouf is a Franco-Belgian comic created by Jean-Michel Charlier and Victor Hubinon .

The realistically drawn biography of the privateer Robert Surcouf was published as Surcouf, roi des corsaires from November 1949 to June 1952 in Spirou . In order to get a realistic picture, both authors went to Brittany to meet a direct descendant of the corsair.

Dupuis published the individual work between 1951 and 1953 as a three-part series with the titles Roi des corsaires , Corsaire de France and Terreur des mers . A new edition then followed in L'Histoire en bandes dessinées and as a complete edition in Figures de proue .
