Victor Hubinon
Victor Hubinon (born April 26, 1924 in Angleur , † January 8, 1979 in My ) was a Belgian cartoonist .
Life
Victor Hubinon attended the art academy in Liège and was employed as a retoucher for a daily newspaper, where he also managed the associated printing company. In order to be able to work as a draftsman, he switched to a competing newspaper.
Georges Troisfontaines, who later became head of the World's Press, introduced him to Jean-Michel Charlier . This marked the beginning of a long-term collaboration. Buck Danny was created for Spirou and The Red Corsair appeared in Pilote . Both series became classics of realistic adventure comics. Under the pseudonym Victor Hughes, he also published humorous series and worked several times with René Goscinny .
Although Victor Hubinon never worked directly for Uncle Paul , with the exception of a short story he created with Jean Graton , the appearance of the uncle and his two nephews was his. Shortly before his death, a new adventure story, La Mouette , appeared, based on his own idea.
