Pilots

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pilote was a French youth magazine from 1959 to 1989 that produced many famous comic book series, cartoonists and authors. For example, Asterix was specially developed for the start of Pilote . The magazine also published stories, technical and cultural information, such as: B. the Pilotorama, in which a theme from technology or culture was shown in a large drawing on a double-page spread. Pilote was known for offering young, as yet unknown authors publication opportunities and allowing experiments. A number of later famous authors were first made known to a wide audience through Pilote. In the years after 1968 there were serious disputes within the editorial team and with the editor Georges Dargaud , as a result of which in 1974 the creators of "Asterix", René Goscinny (at the time editor-in-chief) and Albert Uderzo (at the time artistic director), Pilote left.

Release history

The first issue of Pilote was published on October 29, 1959. By May 30, 1974, 759 additional issues followed on a weekly basis. During the riots in 1968, the magazine did not appear for two weeks. From June 1974, the publication was switched to monthly issues and the content of the original youth magazine concept was directed towards a more adult audience. 140 issues appeared up to February 1986, before Pilote merged with Charlie Mensuel magazine to become Pilote & Charlie . The Paris-based Delcourt publishing house , which specializes in comics and manga, emerged from the merger in 1986 . From March 5, 1986 to November 1989, a total of 41 issues appeared, although from number 28 of September 1988 onwards they were only titled Pilote . After that, Pilote was hired. However, on June 19, 2003 a 132-page special was published and in 2004 another special issue by Dargaud for Christmas .
