Christian Godard (born March 24, 1932 in Paris ) is a French comic artist and author.

Life

Godard began his career in 1954 with the series Les Adventures de Biscotto le Marmiton , which he published under the pseudonym Eme. After that he worked for various publishers. Among other things, the series L'Agence Flick contre Fantomuch and Tim et Anthime were created . The first-mentioned series, which is about the fight against the criminal Fantomuch, was published in 1956 in the small-format comic magazine Biribu in twelve episodes. 1961 to 1962 it was reprinted in Lancelot magazine . Tim et Anthime was published from 1957 to 1958 in the Ima magazine . There are eight stories in total. Two of these were reprinted in Tintin in 1966 . Godard is also the creator of the characters Benjamin et Benjamine (1955). This series was later drawn by Albert Uderzo .

In the first edition of Pilote Godard was represented with Jacquot le Mousse . The text came from René Goscinny , with whom he subsequently also produced the series Tromblon et Bottaclou . Using his own scenarios, Godard then drew a few short stories for the Agent Secret E-1000 and the adventures of Norbert et Kari for Pilote . In the latter series, Norbert, a Frenchman annoyed by the big city, flees to Polynesia , where he hopes for peace and solitude. The series is particularly famous for its criticism of civilization and its numerous puns.

Since 1966 he also produced for Tintin magazine , in which he published Martin Milan , a series about the pilot of an air taxi, and other series. While at Tintin , he built a reputation as a subtly humorous scenarioist . From 1969 he wrote the series La Jungle en Folie for the magazine Pif Gadget , which was drawn by Mic Delinx and from 1975 the series Le Vagabond des Limbes ( The vagabonds of infinity ) drawn by Julio Ribera for various magazines , the second volume of which L'Empire des soleils noirs received the title “ Best Album ” at the first Angoulême International Comics Festival in 1976 . With Ribera he created a few other series and in 1988 founded the Vaisseau d'Argent publishing house, which existed until 1991. He also developed scenarios for Achdé , Derib , Éric Juszezak and other draftsmen.
