Prix du meilleur album
In the category of Best Album are on the Angoulême International Comics Festival every year the best comics since 1976 album - format with the Prix du meilleur album excellent.
Originally the award was named Alfred ( Alfred du meilleur album ), named after the pets of the characters from Alain Saint-Ogan's comic series Zig et Puce . In 1989 he was renamed Alph'Art ( Alph'Art du meilleur album ) and finally in 2004 the award for the best album .
From 1976 to 1978 and from 1986 to 2001 Angoulême also awarded a prize for the best foreign album, whereby only French-language albums were honored. Since 2002, in addition to French albums, albums by foreign artists that have been released in France or Belgium have had the chance of winning the prize in the same category. With two wins each, the comic author Yann and the comic artist Baru are the most frequently awarded in this category.
A jury selects the winner from a few nominations. In 2007, over fifty titles were nominated in the category, while in previous years it was limited to four to seven nominations.
