Guy Delisle
Guy Delisle (born January 19, 1966 in Québec ) is a Canadian comic artist .
Life
Delisle studied art at Sheridan College in Toronto from 1984 and then worked for two years at the animation studio CinéGroupe in Montreal from 1986 . His work took him to Europe, where he worked for German, Belgian and French studios, including Werner - Beinhart! . Many steps in the production of an animated film are commissioned in Asia. Delisle observed and controlled this work for the studios on site and traveled for longer sections to China and North Korea. The experience gained in Asia flowed into two journalistic graphic novels a 2000 appeared Shenzhen , followed in 2003 by Pyongyang (dt. Pyongyang ). Both comics were first published in France by L'Association and then u. a. Translated into German, English, Italian, Polish and Spanish.
The French publisher Dargaud published a series of humorous comics from 2001 in which the somewhat clumsy police inspector Moroni is the main character.
With his wife, who works for the organization Médecins sans frontières (MSF; Doctors Without Borders ), Delisle lived in Myanmar for 14 months in 2005 (Burma until 1989); from this time he reports in the 2007 comic Chroniques Birmanes (Eng. records from Burma ). In 2008/2009 he again accompanied his wife who worked for MSF, this time to Israel for 12 months . He reports about this in the comic Chroniques de Jérusalem (Eng. Notes from Jerusalem ), for which he won the 2012 Prix du meilleur album of the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d'Angoulême .
In 2011, his graphic novel Shenzhen was part of the collection series Süddeutsche Zeitung Bibliothek Graphic Novels .
Guy Delisle has lived and worked in Montpellier since 1991 .
