Emmanuel Guibert (* 1964 in Paris) is a French comic artist and scriptwriter.

Life

After completing his Baccalauréat , Guibert attended various art academies in Paris for a few months in the mid-1980s. He then began professionally designing storyboards for films and video clips . He made his comic book debut in 1992 with the release of the album Brune , which he worked on for seven years. In the Atelier des Vosges , founded by Frédéric Boilet in 1995, he met the comic artists Didier Tronchet , Christophe Blain and Joann Sfar . With Sfar he wrote La fille du professeur , a story about a young girl in London who fell in love with a revived Egyptian mummy around 1900. He has been a scriptwriter since 2000 and, in addition to Joann Sfar, also draws the comic series Sardine de l'espace , which is aimed at all age groups and which so far comprises 13 albums.

He became internationally known with the three-volume work Le Photographe , published in 2003 (together with Didier Lefèvre and Frédéric Lemercier), for which he developed the drawings and the scenario. The trilogy about the experiences of the French photo reporter Lefèvre in 1986 during his humanitarian mission in the Soviet-Afghan war has been translated into more than 10 languages ​​(German: The Photographer , 2008 and 2009).
