Frederick Peeters (2012)

Frederik Peeters (born August 14, 1974 in Geneva ) is a Swiss comic artist .

Peeters began drawing as a child. At the age of seven he created his first autobiographical comic. In 1992 he contributed to the comic book anthology Sauve qui peut . In 1995 he completed his studies in visual communication in his hometown of Geneva. He published his first comic album in 1997 with Fromage Confiture in the publishing house Atrabile , which he founded with three friends.

In 2001 Pillules bleues ( blue pills ) appeared, which he had worked on for three months. In it he describes his own experiences in a love affair with an HIV-infected woman. The comic was awarded the 2001 Prix Rodolphe Töpffer pour la jeune bande dessinée genevoise and in 2002 it was nominated for “ Best Album ” at the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d'Angoulême . Blue Pills came out in Germany at Reprodukt and was well received by most of the critics. In the Intro , for example, one wrote that the work leaves a lasting impression in terms of drawing and narration. "Since the comic is neither ostensibly instructive, nor gets caught in the concern trap, it manages to master the obstructive distance that largely characterizes other works on this topic." In 2014, the comic was filmed in France under the original title .

Peeters created the comic book Les Miettes based on a scenario by Ibn Al Rabin , and the four-volume series Koma based on a story by Pierre Wazem . From 2003 to 2006, Atrabile published his science fiction series Lupus in four volumes. From 2004 to 2006 this was nominated in Angoulême and in 2007 finally received the “Les Essentiels d'Angoulême” award.
